A year later after creating “Leap of Faith”, I decided to enter the Corel World Design Contest a second time in 1998. “New Tool” was once again a monthly winner that year. The contest had over 5000 entries from over 70 countries. The top 35 monthly winners were selected over the course of seven months. I was one of seven finalists who competed for the Best of Category (People, Plants, and Animals) at the black tie event held in Ottowa, Canada. That year I didn’t win the top prize, but the hors d’oeuvres were slightly better than the year before.
The child in the image is my nephew. (He’s much taller now.) The woman’s hands in the image were based on reference photos I took of my mom. The image was created using Corel Photo-Paint.
